...From the Mouths of Movers:

"The more organized you are, the smoother the loading and unloading will go." --Joanna Hebner, Move Coordinator

"Put sticky notes on all of the items you don't want packed or loaded." --Joanna Hebner, Move Coordinator

"Create a 'First Day Kit' by packing all the items you will want  the first night in your new home together(bedding, towels, coffee pot, toilet paper, a few of the kids' favorite toys, etc).  Then put a large X on each side of the boxes that will be part of your 'First Day Kit'.  Ask the movers to put the 'First Day Kit' where it will be easily accessible at your new home." --John Gish, Vice President and Marketing Manager

"Try to make a tentative floor plan of where you would like your items to be placed in your new home. Adjustments can always be made but having a plan from the start will make the unloading go a lot smoother and give you a better idea if all of your belongings will fit in your new home." --Shawn Biggs, Operations Manager

"When packing, always fill the box to the very top so as to prevent crushing during transit. If boxes have dead space in them it can cause stacks to become unstable during transport. If an item is so fragile that the box cannot be filled, mark that box TOP LOAD ONLY. This lets the loaders know that special care is required." --Shawn Biggs, Operations Manager

"When possible, try to schedule appointments such as cable or phone installation, carpet cleaning, and maid service on a day other than your load and unloading. This will help insure that several crews aren’t running into each other, risking damage to your items. It can also make parking cumbersome." --Shawn Biggs, Operations Manager
